Preventing slips, trips, and falls in the workplace

On Behalf of | Oct 15, 2023 | Workplace Accidents |

Workplace accidents happen all the time and can occur in any type of work environment. While most Texas workplace accidents are minor, they can still lead to loss of work and injuries that may require time for one to recover. Slips, trips, and falls are some of the most common workplace injuries. There are ways, however, that one can try to prevent many of these accidents.

Avoiding slips, trips, and falls

Nearly one-fourth of all workplace accidents involve slips, trips, and falls. Many of these accidents can be prevented by using signage to alert workers to wet floors or other tripping hazards. Keeping a workspace neat and clean, with clear walkways, can also prevent many falls. Lastly, it’s important for workers to wear safety gear and use caution when working in areas where falling from a significant height is a concern.

Many workplace accidents can be prevented with education. If workers understand the dangers of accidents, especially based on the industry in which they work, they can be better prepared to avoid slips, trips, and falls. These types of accidents can happen in construction, plumbing, and HVAC work. But one can also fall in virtually any type of workplace if hazards are not visibly marked with signage.

Help after a workplace accident

When someone in Texas is injured at work, they may find themselves needing days, weeks, or even months to recover. This loss of work, along with the added stress of unexpected medical bills, can be quite a financial burden. When the workplace injury happened due to unsafe working conditions, the victim has the right to seek compensation by filing a civil lawsuit against the negligent party.
