On Behalf of | Aug 9, 2023 | Car Accidents |

A teenager was killed in a Texas motor vehicle collision.  Two other teens suffered injuries in the crash. The accident took place on the Gulf Freeway.

Crash details

The recent Texas wreck occurred just past 4:30 a.m. Law enforcement authorities reported that a teenage boy was speeding on the highway and could not maintain control of his motor vehicle. The vehicle reportedly left the freeway and struck poles in the area.

Police said the driver and the front-seat passenger, another teenage boy, were thrown from the automobile. The backseat passenger, also a male teen, was not ejected from the car. All three accident victims were transported to a medical center, but the driver later died there. The condition of the front-seat passenger was said to be critical, while the backseat passenger was apparently not critically hurt. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident.

Legal recourse available following the accident

The two injured passengers may choose to file personal injury claims, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages sustained as a result of the Texas crash. Even though the driver who allegedly caused the accident passed away, his estate may still be sued. Anyone else with an ownership interest in the car he was driving at the time of the accident, including his parents, may be sued as well. Liability must be established, based upon a showing of negligence, before any claims for damages will be determined. Successfully fought claims may result in financial damages to cover any losses stemming from the crash, such as the passengers’ hospital bills.
