A woman’s life ended in a tragic car crash. In addition, a man was injured in the Texas collision. The fatal crash occurred during the early morning hours on a recent Sunday and resulted in the arrest of a second woman.
How the car accident happened
The recent motor vehicle collision took place at around 12:21 a.m. Police said they arrived at the scene to find a man, 50, and a woman, 59, lying on the street with serious injuries. They were rushed to a medical center for treatment. The man survived, but the woman did not.
Police said two women later arrived at the crash scene and explained that they had been involved in the crash. One of the women, 39, was reportedly driving at the time of the accident and told authorities the location of the car she was driving when the wreck occurred. She was taken into custody and now faces charges of causing an accident involving death or injury (two counts).
Legal recourse available following the accident
The surviving family members of the woman who died in the accident may file a wrongful death claim against the woman who allegedly caused the accident, seeking reimbursement for financial damages. Likewise, the injured man might opt to file a personal injury claim against her. If she is convicted of her criminal charges, proof of the conviction may be presented in civil court as proof of her negligence. A successfully navigated claim may result in an award of monetary damages to cover documented losses related to the crash, including burial expenses and hospital bills.
