A recent car accident near Mineola has sadly claimed a man’s life and injured three others. The car crash took place on a Friday morning. These accidents can sometimes happen as a result of a driver’s carelessness, which can be grounds for civil litigation.
Events leading up to the crash
The recent accident took place at around 10:50 a.m. Police said an 89-year-old man did not yield to traffic at an intersection stop sign along U.S. Highway 80. As a result, a car reportedly crashed into the first car.
The elderly man was pronounced dead at the crash scene. Two other people who were riding in the same vehicle suffered incapacitating injuries and were rushed to a medical center. The driver of the second car, who suffered injuries that were not considered incapacitating, was also taken to the hospital.
Seeking justice and compensation
The three individuals who suffered injuries in the Texas crash may choose to file personal injury claims, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages sustained in the crash. Even though the man who allegedly caused the accident ended up dying in the collision, his estate may still be sued. In addition, anybody with an ownership interest in the motor vehicle he was driving at the time of the accident may also be named as a defendant. Successfully litigated claims could lead to an award of monetary damages to cover the injured victims’ hospital bills and other documented losses resulting from the accident, such as the loss of wages due to missing work for an extended period.
