Two individuals have been injured in an unfortunate motor vehicle collision involving a semi-truck. The accident took place on a recent Saturday afternoon along Interstate 10. Sometimes these types of car accidents occur as a result of a motorist’s negligence, which can be grounds for litigation.
How the wreck occurred
The recent incident took place at about 3:20 p.m. According to police, a semi-truck was going west along the interstate when the semi driver lost control of the truck. The truck then reportedly rear-ended an SUV, and the SUV subsequently struck a pickup truck. The pickup truck then allegedly rear-ended a second pickup truck.
According to authorities, the semi driver and the drivers of both pickup trucks suffered no injuries in the crash. However, the 59-year-old male SUV driver was taken to the hospital with injuries. A 67-year-old woman who was riding in the first pickup truck was also transported to a medical center with injuries. Fortunately, both of their injuries were considered not to be life-threatening.
How an attorney can help, following these collisions
Texas authorities may determine that the semi-truck driver caused the crash due to negligent driving, such as driving too quickly for road conditions. In this case, the two injured parties may choose to file personal injury claims against the semi driver, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages. The semi driver’s employer may also be named in their lawsuits. If they are successful, they may receive damages to cover their hospital expenses and even the loss of wages if their injuries prevented them from returning to work for a period of time.
