A Texas child’s life was tragically cut short in a recent motor vehicle crash. In addition, another child was injured, and so was the children’s father. The accident, which took place on a Sunday night, was reportedly the result of drunk driving.
Events leading up to the accident
The tragic motor vehicle crash took place at about 11:40 p.m. According to police, a 31-year-old man was driving east along Interstate 30 and experienced a minor crash. Police said the man then left the accident scene and came to a halt in traffic. At that time, a car carrying a man and two children apparently struck the first man’s car.
One of the two children, who were riding in the back, was killed in the collision. Meanwhile, the second child and their father were transported to a medical center with serious injuries. The 31-year-old man who reportedly caused the wreck was then taken into custody. He now faces charges of intoxicated assault (two counts) and intoxicated manslaughter (one count).

The injured man may choose to file a personal injury claim against the accused man, seeking the reimbursement of damages sustained in the tragedy. He might also choose to file a personal injury claim on behalf of his injured child, as well as a wrongful death claim regarding his other child’s death in the accident. If the individual who was arrested is being convicted of his criminal charges, proof of the conviction may be presented in civil court in an effort to establish negligence per se regarding the accident.
