Somerville crash leaves 1 dead, 2 injured

On Behalf of | Jun 7, 2023 | Wrongful Death |

Pickup trucks are a common sight on Texas roadways. These large vehicles are heavy, which can mean that when they’re in a crash, the damage to the vehicle and injuries to the occupants can be very serious. A recent crash in Somerville turned fatal when two pickups collided head-on. Investigators are still trying to determine exactly what happened in the moments leading up to the crash.

Details of the fatal accident

The two-vehicle collision happened on State Highway 36 on a Sunday evening. A 28-year-old woman was traveling northbound in a GMC pickup truck when her vehicle was struck by a Ford pickup. The other driver, a 31-year-old male, crossed the turn lane before striking the GMC head-on.

The driver of the GMC pickup was sadly killed in the accident. Her passenger, a 62-year-old male was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries. The other driver was also injured in the crash. After initial investigations, police believe that alcohol consumption may have contributed to the crash. They will continue to investigate and file charges if appropriate based on their findings.

Fatal car accidents traumatic for families

No one expects to get a call that their family member has been killed in a car accident. The unexpectedness of such a situation can often leave a family traumatized. In many situations, Texas families are also left with medical bills, funeral costs, and other accident-related expenses that can put them in a serious financial bind. When a car accident happens due to driver negligence, the victim or the victim’s family members have the right to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver at fault to attempt to get compensation to help with those expenses.
