A woman and man in their 20s have sadly passed away in a tragic single-car collision. The fiery car accident took place during the early morning hours on a recent Thursday. Sometimes, these types of wrecks occur as a result of driver negligence, which can be grounds for litigation.
How the wreck occurred
The unfortunate incident took place at a little past 1 a.m. According to authorities, the man was driving south along an Interstate 410 access road. All of a sudden, he reportedly struck a curb as well as a traffic light’s base.
Police said the car caught fire as a result of the impact of the crash. Emergency personnel managed to rescue the male driver and the woman who was riding in the car. However, the woman passed away at the crash scene. The man was taken to a local medical center but ended up dying there as well.
How an attorney can help
The surviving loved ones of the woman who died in the car accident may choose to file a wrongful death claim, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages sustained in the crash. Although the man who allegedly caused the wreck passed away in the crash, his estate may still be named in the plaintiffs’ lawsuit. Likewise, anyone else with an ownership interest in the car could be sued. If the plaintiffs are successful in their claim, they may receive monetary damages to cover the woman’s burial costs and other losses resulting from the crash. For instance, the damages may help to cover the loss of support for any dependents that the woman left behind after the crash.
