Head-on crashes can be very serious in Texas and other states around the country. They happen for many reasons, some of which are due to driver negligence. When a head-on collision occurs, the driver and passengers of both vehicles may be seriously injured and, in some cases, they succumb to those injuries. One recent head-on crash between two vehicles left one driver dead and the other seriously injured.
The danger of head-on collisions
This accident happened on a weekday morning on Highway 361 near Port Aransas. The driver of an SUV veered into oncoming traffic and struck a truck head-on. The impact of the collision caused severe damage to both vehicles. Because of the severity of the accident, the highway was closed so investigators could attempt to determine what happened.
The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital. The condition of that person is unknown at this time and no names have been released. Investigators are unsure of what caused the SUV to swerve into the other lane but evidence from the scene may help them understand exactly what occurred leading up to the crash.
Seeking help after a head-on collision
Victims of serious car accidents can be left with lifelong health concerns, not to mention medical care expenses and loss of work. If fault can be attributed to a driver, the victim or their family members may have cause to file a wrongful death suit against the party at fault or their estate. Dealing with such matters can be trying so it’s helpful for Texas victims or their families to consult a personal injury attorney for advice.
