There are many things that can go wrong when driving on any road. Rural roads and small streets have their own challenges, but the higher speed limits of highways and the number of vehicles on the road at any given time can often lead to more serious car crashes. Sometimes, there is no known cause for an accident, but many times driver negligence leads to a crash, which can result in serious injury or death. Tragically, one recent accident claimed the lives of four individuals from out of state.
What happened?
The accident occurred on I-40 near Adrian. A GMC was traveling the wrong way in the eastbound lanes. The SUV struck a semi-truck head-on, and the impact of the collision sent the SUV into the center median. The four occupants of the GMC were killed on impact. The driver of the semi was not seriously injured.
Three of the accident victims were children. The fourth victim, the driver, was a 25-year-old female. It’s unclear what caused the her to be heading westbound in the eastbound lanes of traffic. The identities of the victims have yet to be released and the accident is still under investigation.
What to do after a serious car accident
Accidents occur for many reasons, some of which include driver negligence. When one is involved in a serious accident or has lost a loved one in a car crash, there are certain legal steps to take to seek compensation. While filing a personal injury lawsuit against the party at fault may not be a top priority during the healing process, a monetary settlement can help with accident-related costs and medical bills. Victims and family members of victims can seek advice from a Texas attorney to better understand the legalities of pursuing this type of lawsuit.
