A Texas man’s life has sadly been snuffed out in a multi-vehicle car accident. The motor vehicle collision took place on a recent Tuesday morning along U.S. Highway 79. Sometimes, these types of crashes happen due to a driver’s negligence, in which case the reportedly negligent driver may be held liable for any injuries or deaths resulting from the accident.
Events leading up to the accident
The recent Panola County crash took place shortly before 10:30 a.m. According to authorities, a pickup truck driver was going southwest along the interstate and was preparing to make a left turn into a driveway. At that time, a car driver was traveling northwest along the highway as well. Police said the pickup truck driver then suddenly entered the car driver’s path.
The car driver reportedly attempted to avoid an accident but ended up crashing into a southwest-bound truck-tractor in the process. The pickup truck and truck-tractor drivers — ages 78 and 54, respectively — were not injured in the crash. However, the 37-year-old car driver passed away in the collision. Authorities continued to investigate the cause of the crash.
Legal recourse could be possible following the crash
The surviving loved ones of the man who died in the Panola County wreck may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the pickup truck driver, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages. Liability has to be established before the civil court hearing the case before any claim for damages will be adjudicated. If the plaintiffs are successful in their claim, they may receive financial damages to cover their loved one’s funeral costs and even the loss of support for surviving dependents due to the crash.
