The life of an elderly woman has sadly been cut short in a tragic motor vehicle crash. The collision took place on a recent Wednesday afternoon in Houston. Sometimes these types of accidents take place due to driver negligence, which is grounds for litigation.
Events leading up to the car crash
The unfortunate accident occurred along Southwest Freeway. According to police, a car was driving south on a nearby street and another car was heading east on another nearby street. One of the motor vehicles then reportedly ended up running a red light.
The first car allegedly breached a road barrier and flew from the overpass it was on. Authorities said it ultimately landed onto the Southwest Freeway’s embankment. An elderly woman was riding in this car when the accident happened and suffered injuries in the crash. She was taken to a medical center but later passed away there. The car’s driver was also hospitalized with injuries. Authorities continued to investigate which car failed to stop at the red light, as well as the reason for this.
Legal recourse can be possible following these incidents
The surviving loved ones of the woman who died in the recent accident may opt to file a wrongful death claim against the driver who is found to have caused the tragic accident. Likewise, if the non-injured driver is determined to have caused the crash, the injured driver may file a personal injury claim against him or her, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages. Successfully litigated claims in a Texas civil court may lead to awarded damages to cover accident-related losses, such as hospital bills and funeral costs.
