A boy in Texas has sadly suffered injuries in a pedestrian crash. The accident took place during the morning hours on Mother’s Day. Sometimes these types of accidents happen due to driver negligence, which can be grounds for litigation.
How the pedestrian crash occurred
The recent accident took place at a little before 9 a.m. According to police, a boy, 10, was walking to a nearby convenience store to purchase some candy as well as a card for his mother. He had reportedly snuck out of the house to make the purchases.
However, on his way back home, the boy was allegedly struck by a car. Police said the individual who was driving the car at the time of the accident claimed not to have seen him crossing the street. The boy was transported to a medical center with a broken leg, following the crash. Authorities said the injuries were not life threatening.
How a personal injury attorney can help
If Texas police determine that the car driver was driving too quickly or was texting behind the wheel at the time of the pedestrian accident, the loved ones of the boy may choose to file a personal injury claim on his behalf, seeking damages. In this situation, liability needs to be established, based upon a showing of negligence, before any claims for damages will be adjudicated. If the plaintiffs are successful, a judge may award them monetary damages to cover the boy’s hospital bills and other expenses resulting from the pedestrian crash.
