A man’s life has sadly been snuffed out in a hit-and-run car accident in Texas. In addition, two other individuals have suffered injuries in the crash. The woman who reportedly caused the accident and then ran away from it has been arrested in connection with the crash.
Events leading up to the accident
The tragic car crash took place at about 3 p.m. on a recent Friday. According to police, a woman, 31, was driving a car and attempted to make a left turn into a car lot. However, she reportedly entered a pickup truck’s path and ultimately crashed into the truck.
Authorities said the woman then fled the area, leaving her two car passengers behind. One passenger, a 41-year-old man, suffered injuries in the crash and was taken to a medical center, but he ended up passing away at the hospital. A second passenger was also transported to a hospital with critical injuries. The pickup truck driver additionally suffered injuries and was therefore taken to a hospital for treatment. However, police later arrested the woman who allegedly caused the crash, and she now faces criminal charges due to her alleged role in the unfortunate accident.
Legal recourse may be available moving forward
The surviving loved ones of the man who died in the recent Texas accident may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the woman, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages sustained in the crash. Likewise, the two injured parties may choose to file personal injury claims against the woman. If the woman is later convicted on her accident-related criminal charges, proof of the conviction may be presented in a related civil court proceeding in an effort to establish her liability in the accident.
