Gamez Law Firm helps Texans in need amid COVID-19

San Antonio, much like the rest of the country, is in great need of connection and compassion. As COVID-19 continues to spread sickness and job loss across our great city, people need a helping hand more than ever.

Our usual mission is to help people recover damages after a severe accident. But, we at Gamez Law Firm are shifting our focus to assist struggling families and older adults during these tough times. To do so, we recently partnered with J-Prime Steakhouse to provide food for those in need.

As the pandemic leaves countless Texans unemployed, and forces businesses and schools to close their doors, we can't remain idle.

While we're committed to giving people what they need, we understand concerns regarding social distancing. To ease these worries, we made sure to place goods in the back of people's vehicles as they drove through.

How COVID-19 affects San Antonio workers

According to recent reports, San Antonio has 231 coronavirus cases. While there's reportedly been no recent deaths, COVID-19 has had a substantial impact on local businesses and everyday life in the Alamo City. San Antonio is a big tourist hub; restaurants, hotels and other attractions rely heavily on outside visitors to bring in revenue and keep locals employed. Sadly, many of these workers don't always have the privilege of working from home or the benefits that other jobs may provide. Unfortunately, some of these workers now wonder how they'll pay the bills and put food on the table.

The elderly and retirees are also taking a hit

San Antonio's elder population has seen an uptick in recent years. According to the AARP, one third of the metro's population is 50 or older. Many come here because of the warm weather and affordable cost of living. Sadly, the coronavirus poses serious risk for this demographic. Depending on the circumstances, some older adults may be widowed or don't have other family members to take care of them, making it harder for them to do things like get groceries without putting their lives in danger.

It's times like these we learn to give again

San Antonio is our home and means so much to us. We have several other events planned in the coming weeks to lend a helping hand in the community. Hopefully, other businesses across San Antonio and Bexar County see what we're doing and follow suit.
