Dallas freeway collision claims the life of truck driver

On Behalf of | Apr 6, 2018 | Car Accidents |

When collisions between semi-trucks and other vehicles occur in San Antonio, it may easy for many to automatically assign blame to the truck drivers involved. After all, theirs are the biggest vehicles involved, and typically, they are the ones most likely to walk away from such accidents unharmed (again, due to the size of their trucks). Yet what many do not fully appreciate is the amount of training these drivers go through in order to avoid accidents. Often such training causes them to be more aware of what is going on around them than other drivers. The notion that they are rarely injured in accidents may also be untrue.

It certainly was in an accident that recently occurred on a Dallas freeway. While the accident is still under investigation, authorities believe that another car struck the semi-truck involved from behind. While most may assume that the size disparity between the vehicles involved would make it unlikely for significant damage to occur, traffic cameras on the scene recorded multiple explosions resulting from the collision. So great was the force of the accident that the cab of the semi-truck ultimately became suspended off the bridge on which the collision occurred. The driver of the truck was ejected during that crash; he later died at a local hospital. The condition of the other accident victims was not reported.

Completely recovering from the loss of a loved one in a car accident may be impossible. Ultimately, that may not be the purpose of civil action taken following such a tragedy. Rather, it is often the only way those left behind are able to come close to settling the resulting expenses. Those looking to initiate such action may wish to secure the services of an attorney.
